Your Past Does Not Determine Your Future

Your Past Does Not Determine Your Future

By Tiffany Abera

I had the privilege of meeting 12 young boys who were former street children. Some chose to leave their homes for various reasons and others had no where else to go. Living on the streets, hungry and addicted to drugs these boys were given a second chance at this home, Institution #2: Child Development Center.
Before I walked in to the compound I had already judged them. After I talked with the boys I felt shameful for judging someone I did not know. I asked if they could have one thing what would it be. One enthusiastic boy replied: jobs while we are out of school in the summer, help for our house mom, and futbol gear (balls, jerseys, shoes).
I am not sure how, but I hope that if I can not provide what they asked for that they will receive all of these things and even more blessings. All 12 of those faces have touched my heart and I will never forget it.
